Simply put, fresh water is limited. Those who have lived through the nationwide droughts of the past decade can attest to the finite nature of our water resources.

Many areas of the state have already exhausted their water supplies, and with the ever-increasing population in Georgia, the Georgia Environmental Protection Division estimates that metropolitan Atlanta and many areas of North Georgia will exceed their drinking water supplies by 2010.

For this reason, the EPD has adopted year-round water restrictions for outdoor watering. Please visit our Water Ban page for more information on these restrictions.

With these outdoor limits and some basic conservation techniques, most homes can reduce their total water usage by close to 30-percent! Conserving not only one of our most valuable natural resources but saving you some money as well!
