Does Piedmont add things like Fluoride to my water?

Although Fluoride is naturally occurring in the environment and may be present in some of our systems, Piedmont Water does not add Fluoride to the water in any of our water systems. We do add two things to our water.

Chlorine is undetectable in water and is the traditional chemical disinfectant used to purify drinking water. Chlorine has been in use since 1908 and will inactivate or chemically kill microorganisms that may cause life-threatening waterborne diseases such as cholera, typhoid and dysentery.
In some subdivisions there is a high iron content in the ground water which can cause water to appear brown in color. In these areas we have introduced a chemical recommended by the EPD called Calciquest. It is a polyphosphate designed to isolate iron from the water so that we can remove the iron from the water by flushing our water lines.
